HuaScribe ("we", "us", "the app") is an offline, self-contained Chinese-history learning app intended for users of all ages. It is engineered from the ground up to collect as little data as possible. In short:
We have designed the product this way on purpose: for a reference app that anyone can use, privacy is a feature, not a footnote.
We do not collect, transmit, or share any of the following:

The app stores a small amount of data exclusively on your own device so that your progress is remembered between sessions. This data:

Because this progress data never leaves the device, it is not synced across devices and cannot be recovered if the app is deleted or the device is wiped.
The Android build declares no permissions at all — the manifest
permissions list is empty, including no INTERNET permission. The app
performs no network requests at runtime: there is no server, no
telemetry, no ad call, and no content download. All content is bundled inside the
app and read locally from the device, so nothing is transmitted.
No third-party SDKs, ad networks, analytics providers, crash reporters, payment processors, or social platforms are integrated into the app. We do not sell, rent, or share any information with anyone, because we do not have any to share.
HuaScribe is a general-audience app and is not directed specifically to children under 13; it is nevertheless designed to be safe for users of any age.
Because the app keeps all user-generated progress on the device itself, there
is no backend database to breach and no cloud account to compromise. The app
uses only the platform-provided on-device storage mechanism (App Sandbox /
NSUserDefaults-equivalent on iOS; app-private storage on
Android). Data is retained on the device until the user deletes the app or
clears the app's storage.
